Sotir Papahristo was born in the village of Dh\u00ebmbell in Devoll (now in Greece). He was a classical philologist, educational activist, author of pedagogical works, director of educational institutions, translator, and a candidate of philological sciences, honored as a “Teacher of Merit.” After completing high school in Kor\u00e7\u00eb, he continued his higher education in classical philology at the University of Athens. After completing his studies, he served as a professor of ancient Greek language and literature at the high school in Kor\u00e7\u00eb; professor and administrative director of the National Lyceum of Kor\u00e7\u00eb (1927\u20131933); director of the Women’s Institute “Nana Mbretneshe” (\u201cQueen Mother\u201d)(1933\u20131939); teacher at the Pedagogical High School “17 N\u00ebntori” (\u201c17 November\u201d) in Tirana (1944\u20131947); translator at the publishing house “Naim Frash\u00ebri” and scientific employee at the Institute of Sciences and the Institute of History and Linguistics (1948\u20131968). He published pedagogical textbooks: “Qeverimi i f\u00ebmij\u00ebve n\u00eb shkoll\u00eb” (\u201cGovernance of children in school\u201d) (Kor\u00e7\u00eb, 1928); “M\u00ebsime shembullore” (\u201cExemplary lessons\u201d) (Kor\u00e7\u00eb, 1930); “Hartime dhe ushtrime n\u00eb shkollat fillore e t\u00eb mesme” (\u201cCompositions and exercises in primary and secondary schools\u201d) (Kor\u00e7\u00eb, 1936). He prepared school texts: “Gramatika e greqishtes se vjet\u00ebr” (\u201cAncient Greek Grammar\u201d)(I, 1938; II, 1940) and “Sintaksa e greqishtes s\u00eb vjet\u00ebr” (\u201cAncient Greek Syntax\u201d)(1942). He translated and adapted into Albanian several educational and pedagogical works, as well as a variety of literary works by classical Greek authors, such as Aeschylus, Sophocles, Aristophanes, Aristotle, Plutarch, etc. He passed away in 1979.
