He was born in Drenov\u00eb, Kor\u00e7\u00eb, in 1872. He began his secondary education at the high school in his hometown. Left orphaned, he emigrated to Romania in 1885; he returned to his homeland several times (1889, 1914, 1937) for short periods. While ensuring his livelihood through hard work, he attended the Bucharest Commercial Academy and later registered at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the local University, which he did not complete. Asdreni was a prominent figure in the Albanian colony in Romania and served as its secretary for a long period (1913\u20131925); during the years 1922\u20131934, with some interruptions, he served as the secretary of the Albanian Consulate in Bucharest. Asdreni participated in the November 5, 1912 gathering in Bucharest, where the independence of Albania was decided. His poem &#8220;Betimi mi Flamur&#8221; (\u201cPledge to the flag\u201d) and other patriotic verses set to music played a significant role in strengthening national consciousness on the eve and aftermath of Albania&#8217;s independence declaration and during the consolidation period of the Albanian state. Always concerned about the fate of his homeland, he addressed political and social issues in contemporary periodicals such as: &#8220;Albania&#8221;, &#8220;Drita&#8221; (\u201cLight\u201d), &#8220;Shqip\u00ebria e re&#8221; (\u201cNew Albania\u201d), etc.) through a series of articles with democratic orientation and constructive spirit. Asdreni&#8217;s literary beginnings (1901) are linked to Faik Konica&#8217;s magazine &#8220;Albania&#8221;. He published poetic volumes at intervals: &#8220;Rreze djelli&#8221; (\u201cRay of light\u201d)(1904), &#8220;Psallme murgu&#8221; (\u201cMonk psalms\u201d) (1931), etc. Considering the state of the Albanian literary system and his high level of talent, Asdreni became a bridge between National Renaissance literature and modern literature, occupying a special position therein. A dedicated idealist, Asdreni passed away in complete poverty.
