He was born in Suk\u00eb, Roskovec in 1922. He became a member of the Communist Group of Shkodra while studying at the local high school. He worked to spread communist and anti-fascist ideas in the country and took part in actions against fascist occupiers. He became a member of the Communist Party of Albania in 1942 and was elected as the political secretary of the Albanian Communist Youth Committee for Berat. With the formation of the youth battalion &#8220;<i>Margarita Tutulani<\/i>&#8221; in 1943, he was appointed as its commissar. He was severely wounded after clashes with German Nazis and their collaborators in Tenda e Qypit (Skrapar).
