In Qyshk of Peja, Sk\u00ebnder \u00c7eku was born, a fighter of the Kosova Liberation Army, Hero of Kosova. After high school in Pej\u00eb, he completed his studies at the Faculty of Law of the University of Prishtina. During his military service, he finished the military school for reserve officers in Zare, Croatia, and received the rank of lieutenant, later that of captain. Due to illegal political activity, in 1985 he was imprisoned and sentenced to several years in prison. After being released from prison, in the revolt of January 31, 1991, he was injured by the Serbian police. Then he emigrated to Switzerland, where he continued his activities for the liberation of Kosova. In the summer of 1998, he returned from Switzerland to Albania and from there crossed to Kosova with his comrades-in-arms, positioning himself in the villages of Raushiq, Loxh\u00eb and the surrounding area. His first encounter with Serbian forces was the Battle of Loxha (July 6, 1998). He then faced constant battles against Serbian forces, who launched daily attacks on this front line. The battle of August 15, 1998 stands out, when the Serbian forces attacked the positions of the Kosova Liberation Army in Loxha with heavy artillery, also bombing from the air with warplanes. In the ongoing war, in the neighborhood of Morin\u00eb, Sk\u00ebnder \u00c7eku was seriously injured. He was withdrawn from the battlefield and taken to the military hospital in the area of Malisheva, where he died two days later.
