Engj\u00ebll Berisha, musicologist, university professor, academic, passed away. He was born in Prizren, in 1934. He belongs to the first generation of graduates of the School of Music in Prizren (1949-1953). He studied in the theoretical-pedagogical section at the Academy of Music in Belgrade. He completed his post-graduate studies in musicology at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo in 1981 and graduated with “Zhvillimi i stileve n\u00eb veprat e kompozitor\u00ebve shqiptar\u00eb t\u00eb Kosov\u00ebs” (“The development of styles in the works of Albanian composers from Kosova”)<\/i> (published in 1997). For ten years he taught the history of music at the high school of music in Prizren (1958-1968), for a time he was the leader of the school choirs and the cultural-artistic society “Agimi”. During those years, he scored successes in concerts and festivals in Kosova and Slovenia. He continued his work as a music history teacher at the Higher Pedagogical School in Prishtina (1968-1975). His traetise “Historia e muzik\u00ebs” (“History of Music”)<\/i> (1975) was a welcomed contribution to the scarce university literature. For two decades in a row (1981\u20132000) he published papers, reviews, analytical studies about life and musical creativity in Kosova and beyond. He has lectured without interruption for half a century on the subject of music history in all three phases of music education, continuing even after his retirement as an external lecturer. He has also presented the historical-musical material within the university context and summarized it in the publication “Studime e v\u00ebshtrime p\u00ebr muzik\u00ebn” (“Studies and observations on music”) <\/i>(2004). In the same year, he published the textbook “Arti muzikor” (“Musical art”)<\/i> for all types of high schools (2004). He has been honored with a number of awards and recognitions, including the national award of the Ministry of Culture for lifetime achievement “Niket\u00eb Dardani” (2014).
