In the early 1980s, he emigrated to the West. In 1985, while returning to Kosovo, he was arrested by Italian police and handed over to Yugoslav authorities. In the summer of 1986, the District Court of Prizren sentenced him to six years in prison for political activity. In 1995, he was arrested again and sentenced to 3.5 years on charges of involvement in establishing structures for the Ministry of Defense of Kosovo in the V\u00ebrri area. In early 1998, he joined the Kosovo Liberation Army in the Drenica Zone. Later, he was appointed by the Kosovo Liberation Army General Staff as the commander of the war in the V\u00ebrrini region. He participated in battles in the \u201cTusus\u201d neighborhood, Ho\u00e7a e Qytetit, and the Prizren area. In August 1998, the General Staff of the Kosovo Liberation Army appointed him as deputy commander of the Pashtrik Operational Zone. On August 14, 1998, while traveling from Kle\u00e7ka to V\u00ebrri with several comrades, he encountered Serbian forces&#8217; ambushes in Tupec, then in Vlashnj\u00eb, and finally in Grazhdanik.
