He embraced communist ideas from his time in the commercial school in Vlor\u00eb. He organized anti-fascist demonstrations and became a member of the Communist Party of Albania immediately after its establishment. He was elected as the organizational secretary of the Regional Committee of the Communist Youth for Vlor\u00eb in 1942. Later, he served as the political commissar of the &#8220;Youth&#8221; detachment in the Vlor\u00eb region in 1943 and, after a few months, as the deputy commissar of the &#8220;Halim Xhelo&#8221; battalion.
