In the military hospital in the Malisheva area, Sk\u00ebnder \u00c7eku, a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army and Hero of Kosovo, passed away. He was born in the village of Qyshk in Pej\u00eb in 1955. After completing high school in Pej\u00eb, he studied at the Faculty of Law at the University of Prishtina. During his military service, he attended the military school for reserve officers in Zare, Croatia, attaining the rank of lieutenant and later captain. Due to his illegal political activities, he was imprisoned in 1985 and sentenced to several years in prison. After his release, he was injured by Serbian police during the revolt of January 31, 1991, prompting him to emigrate to Switzerland, where he continued his efforts for the liberation of Kosovo. In the summer of 1998, he returned to Albania from Switzerland and crossed into Kosovo with his comrades-in-arms, positioning himself in the villages of Raushiq, Loxh\u00eb, and the surrounding areas. His first encounter with Serbian forces occurred during the Battle of Loxha on July 6, 1998. He subsequently engaged in constant battles against Serbian forces, who launched daily attacks along this front line. Notably, on August 15, 1998, Serbian forces attacked the positions of the Kosovo Liberation Army in Loxha with heavy artillery and airstrikes from warplanes. During the ongoing war, Sk\u00ebnder \u00c7eku was seriously injured in the neighborhood of Morin\u00eb. He was evacuated from the battlefield and taken to the military hospital in Malisheva, where he died two days later.
