In Paris, the formation of the “<\/span>Shqipëria<\/span> e <\/span>Lirë<\/span>” (“Free Albania”) National Committee was announced, led by the well-known patriot Mithat <\/span>Fra<\/span>shëri<\/span>. Functioning as a government in exile and supported by Anglo-American forces, the committee was headed by an executive committee that included members Abaz Kupi, Seit Kryeziu, Zef Pali, and <\/span>Nuçi<\/span> Kota, with its <\/span>headquarters situated in New York. Along<\/span>side it was a general consultative committee with a broader composition, also chaired by Abaz Kupi, who had two deputies, Abaz <\/span>Ermenji<\/span> and Seit Kryeziu, and a secretary named <\/span>Gaqo<\/span> Gogo. In a statement to the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) in London<\/span> in Septe<\/span>mber 1949, Mithat <\/span>Frashëri<\/span> emphasized that the National Committee’s goal was to fight for Albania’s independence, ensuring sovereignty and liberation from the communist regime. <\/span><\/span>(In the photo: Members of the “Free Albania” National Committee<\/em>)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
