August 30-31, 1943<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The “Battle of<\/span> Reçi<\/span>” was a fierce armed resistance against the Ita<\/span>li<\/span>an occupying forces in the district of Shkod<\/span>ra<\/span>. To <\/span>e<\/span>li<\/span>minate<\/span> the growing influence of the Anti-Fascist National <\/span>Li<\/span>be<\/span>ra<\/span>tion War in the upper Shkod<\/span>ra<\/span> area, the Ita<\/span>li<\/span>an fascists launched a mi<\/span>li<\/span>t<\/span>ary ope<\/span>ra<\/span>tion involving appro<\/span>xi<\/span>ma<\/span>tely 1,200 soldiers, reinforced with <\/span>artillery<\/span> and supported by aviation. The enemy attack began in the morning of August 30. Facing them were the forces of the first detachment <\/span>(of<\/span> Reçi<\/span>) from the “Perlat Rexhepi” partisan <\/span>batta<\/span>li<\/span>on, which had <\/span>estab<\/span>li<\/span>shed<\/span> a com<\/span>ma<\/span>nding position and formed a well-camouflaged “pocket” of defense. Intense fighting erupted across the front, particularly at the <\/span>Zhbatri<\/span> pass, where the odds were significantly in favor of the Ita<\/span>li<\/span>ans. However, with<\/span> the arrival of a second platoon from <\/span>Grizha<\/span>, the partisans <\/span>initiated<\/span> a powerful counte<\/span>ra<\/span>ttack from two directions, inf<\/span>li<\/span>cting conside<\/span>ra<\/span>ble da<\/span>ma<\/span>ge on the Ita<\/span>li<\/span>an forces, who retreated to the field of <\/span>Postopojë<\/span>. The following day, after reorganizing and wit<\/span>h support from nationa<\/span>li<\/span>st forces in Shkod<\/span>ra<\/span>, <\/span>numerous<\/span> peasant volunteers, and the partisan detachment from <\/span>Mirdita<\/span>, the partisans launched a surprise attack against the enemy from the front, flanks, and rear, <\/span>ulti<\/span>ma<\/span>tely breaking<\/span> their <\/span>li<\/span>nes and forcing th<\/span>em to withd<\/span>ra<\/span>w to Shkodër. The enemy suffered around 114 casualties, both killed and wounded, along with substantial loss of mi<\/span>li<\/span>tary equipment left on the battlefield. From the <\/span>li<\/span>be<\/span>ra<\/span>tion forces, 2 <\/span>ma<\/span>rtyrs fell, and 2 fighters were wounded.
