Aleksandër <\/span>Stipçeviç<\/span>, an esteemed historian of antiquity and Illyrian scholar, passed away in Zagreb. Born in an Albanian family in <\/span>Arbnesh<\/span>, Za<\/span>ra<\/span>, in 1930, he complet<\/span>ed his high school education in his hometown and later studied archaeology, g<\/span>ra<\/span>duating from the University of Zagreb in 1954. In 1957, he began working at the National University Lib<\/span>ra<\/span>ry of Zagreb, and in <\/span>the early 1970s, he served as an archaeology lectur<\/span>er at the University of Prishtina. He also held the position of director of the Lib<\/span>ra<\/span>ry of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb from 1974 to 1983. <\/span>Stipçeviç<\/span> was a member of the editorial board of the magazine “<\/span>Gjurmime<\/span> albanologjike<\/span>” (“<\/span>Alban<\/span>ological<\/span> T<\/span>ra<\/span>ces”) for 15 years. After completing his docto<\/span>ra<\/span>te in 1977, he was awarded the titles of “Senior Advisor in Lib<\/span>ra<\/span>rianship” and “Scientific Advisor in the Field of Social Sciences” the following year. He later became a full professor at the Facu<\/span>lty of Philosophy (Department of Lib<\/span>ra<\/span>rianship) at the University of Zagreb. <\/span>Stipçeviç<\/span> authored numerous studies in <\/span>Illyrianology<\/span>, including “<\/span>Gli<\/span> Illiri<\/span>” (1967) (“The Illyrians”), “Arte <\/span>degli<\/span> Illiri<\/span>” (1967) (“Art of the Illyrians”), “<\/span>Bibliog<\/span>ra<\/span>phia<\/span> Illyrica<\/span>” (1967) (“Bibliog<\/span>ra<\/span>phy for the Illyrians”), and “Cult of the Symbol of Ili<\/span>ra<\/span>” (1983) (“Symbols of the Cult of Ili<\/span>ra<\/span>“), as well as works in <\/span>Albanology<\/span> such as “<\/span>Albanological<\/span> Interpretations” and “Ethnogenesis of Albanians.” He published the monog<\/span>ra<\/span>ph “Hist<\/span>ory of the Book” (“Historia e <\/span>librit<\/span>“) in 1988, along with <\/span>a number of<\/span> scientific articles.
