“Dibra Assembly<\/span>”,<\/span> was<\/span> convened<\/span> under the <\/span>chairmanship<\/span> of Iliaz <\/span>Pashë<\/span> Dib<\/span>ra, <\/span>in which Abdyl <\/span>Frashëri<\/span> also <\/span>participated<\/span> as the representative of the Albanian League of <\/span>Prizren<\/span> for Tuscany. The Assembly of Dibra approved the resolution in the form of a memorandum, which contained the points that were also laid out in the program of the Istanbul Committee: the formation of the united vilayet of Albania, the creation of the administration with Albanian officials, the development of education in the Albanian language, the use of a part of considerable amount of the budget for the advancement of education and for world constructions. The resolution also <\/span>stated<\/span> that, within 1 month, the demands would be presented to the <\/span>Sublime Porte<\/span>, <\/span>by means of<\/span> a delegation composed of prominent personalities of Albania, who would receive written consent from all Albanian <\/span>kazatas<\/span> and sanjaks. The resolution emphasized the determination of the Albanian people to ensure the fulfillment of these demands. The resolution was presented to the <\/span>Sublime Porte <\/span>in early February 1879, but <\/span>they<\/span> ignored it. Before the meeting of the assembly, Abdyl <\/span>Frashëri<\/span> called on the residents of Dibra to put aside revenge and direct their weapons only against external enemies who were endangering the country’s independence. <\/span><\/span>(In the photo: View of the city of Dibra.)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
