The first issue of the newspaper “Bashkim’ <\/span>i<\/span> Kombit” <\/span>(“National unity”) <\/span>(1909-1910), a weekly political, social, cultural, literary, economic newspaper in Albanian and Turkish, was published in <\/span>Manastir<\/span>. 40 numbers were directed by Fehim <\/span>Zavalani<\/span> and 2 numbers by Salih <\/span>Gjuka<\/span>. He propagated the unity of the Albanian people in the fight for freedom, the independence and territorial integrity of Albania, the cultural and educational development of Albanians in their native language, etc. It was closed by order of the Young Turk government. <\/span><\/span>(In the photo: Front page of the “Bashkim’ <\/span>i<\/span> Kombit” newspaper.)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
