In Hora <\/span>of<\/span> Arbëreshë<\/span> (it. Piana <\/span>degli<\/span> Albanesi) near Palermo, Paolo <\/span>Schirò<\/span>, Arbëresh philologist, bishop of <\/span>Arbëreshë<\/span> in Sicily with the title “bishop of Benda” (1904), passed away. He was born in Hora <\/span>of<\/span> Arbëreshë<\/span> in 1866. He studied at the Arbëresh Seminary in Palermo and then became the rector of this seminary, where the manuscript of Gjon Nikollë Kazazi was kept with a text copied from <\/span>Buzuku’s<\/span> “<\/span>Meshari<\/span>“<\/span> (“Missal”)<\/span> in 1740 and with data for the book. <\/span>Paolo <\/span>Schirò<\/span> rediscovered “<\/span>Meshar<\/span>” in 1910 and for thirty years he was busy with his study and with the preparation of the philological edition of the book. He published some parts of this work in collaboration with Gaetano <\/span>Petrota<\/span>. He is the author of a grammar of the Albanian language. He left a manuscript translation of Frang Bardhi’s Latin-Albanian dictionary into Albanian-Latin. <\/span><\/span>(In the photo: The book “<\/span>Meshari<\/span>” by <\/span>Buzuku<\/span>.)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
