Odhise <\/span>Paskali<\/span>, sculptor, People’s Sculptor, academic, passed away. He was born in <\/span>Përmet<\/span> in 1903. In 1919 he went to Italy, where he graduated from <\/span>the <\/span>lyceum (1923) and enrolled in the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy in Turin, with the intention of studying <\/span>Albanianology<\/span>, but at the same time he was also interested in sculpture. <\/span>In 1927 he defended his diploma in the field of art history.<\/span> In Albania, Odhise <\/span>Paskali<\/span> participated in the creation of the “<\/span><\/span>M<\/span>iqtë e artit<\/span><\/span>” <\/span>(“Friends of art<\/span>”)  <\/span>society<\/span>, which organized the first national exhibition of “<\/span><\/span>Arti <\/span>i <\/span>thjeshtë<\/span><\/span>“<\/span> (“Simple Art”)<\/span> (1931). On November 28, 1932, the “<\/span><\/span>Luftëtarit Kombëtar<\/span><\/span>“<\/span> (“National Warrior”)<\/span> memorial was inaugurated in <\/span>Korça<\/span>, a masterpiece of Albanian authorship and sculpture. On the same day, the statue of “<\/span>Flamurtar<\/span>“<\/span> (“Flag-bearer”)<\/span> was inaugurated in Vlora on the grave of Ismail Qemal Vlora. After the liberation <\/span>Odis<\/span>e<\/span> Paskali<\/span> created busts of the heroes of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, some of which were placed in city squares. Odhise <\/span>Paskali<\/span> together with Andrea Mano and Janaq <\/span>Paço<\/span> created the Skanderbeg monument in Tirana (1968). True to detail, the silhouettes <\/span>render<\/span> the hero in a parade motion, with his sword at his side and his energetic head raised like a warrior and <\/span>statesman<\/span>. In the 70s of the 20th <\/span>century<\/span> and after, Odhise <\/span>Paskali<\/span> created busts of prominent patriots and fighters of the National Renaissance, such as Naum <\/span>Vekilharxhi<\/span>, Zef <\/span>Serembe<\/span>, Idriz Seferi. He made new interpretations of Naim <\/span>Frashëri<\/span>, of Jeronim de Rada in a <\/span>loose<\/span> plastic style. The realistic portraits he carved in these years are distinguished by a plastic treatment that reflects the type and character of the <\/span>individual<\/span>. Odhise <\/span>Paskali<\/span> also worked on the busts of the leaders of the Albanian state, Ahmet Zog and Enver Hoxha. <\/span>Odhisa<\/span> Pascal’s sculpture, <\/span>generally realistic<\/span>, convey<\/span>ed<\/span> a deep national <\/span>patriotic inspiration, but lyricism and symbolic philosophical generalization are not left out.
