In <\/span>Korç<\/span>e<\/span>, Pandeli Evangjeli, activist of the National Renaissance, prime <\/span>minister<\/span> and high official of the state during the period of independence, passed away. He was born in <\/span>Korça<\/span>, in 1859. In 1878, he emigrated to Bucharest. He was involved in the patriotic activity of the Albanian colony of Romania. In 1895 he was elected <\/span>chairman<\/span> of the “<\/span><\/span>Dituria<\/span><\/span>” <\/span>(“Knowledge<\/span>”)<\/span>society<\/span> and in 1907, <\/span>together with other Albanian patriots, he created the “<\/span><\/span>Committee<\/span> for<\/span> the <\/span>freedom<\/span> of<\/span> Albania<\/span><\/span>” in Bucharest. In 1919, he headed the representation of the Albanian colony of Romania at the Peace Conference in Paris; in 1920, he was appointed a member of the Albanian government delegation to that conference. He returned to Albania in 1921 and worked in the higher institutions of the Albanian state. Twice Prime Minister, Member of Parliament, Minister of Foreign Affairs, President of the <\/span>Parliament,<\/span> and the Senate. <\/span>He<\/span> was decorated with the “Gjergj <\/span>Kastrioti<\/span> Skanderbeg<\/span>” order. <\/span><\/span>(In the photo: Pandeli Evangjeli)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
