Sotir <\/span>Papahristo<\/span>, classical philologist, education activist, author of pedagogical works, head of educational institutions, translator, candidate of philological sciences, passed away. <\/span><\/span>Meritorious <\/span>teacher.<\/span><\/span> He was born in the village of <\/span>Dhëmbell<\/span> in Devoll (today in Greece), in 1887. After graduating from <\/span>Korça<\/span> high school, he continued his higher studies in classical philology at the University of Athens. After finishing his studies, he served as a professor of the language and classical Greek literature at the <\/span>high school<\/span> of <\/span>Korça<\/span>; professor and administrative director of the <\/span>Korça<\/span> National High School (1927–1933); director of the “Nana <\/span>Mbretnes<\/span>h<\/span>ë<\/span>“<\/span> (“Queen Mother”)<\/span> Women’s Institute (1933-1939); teacher at the pedagogic high school “17 <\/span><\/span>Nëntori<\/span><\/span>“<\/span> (“17 November”)<\/span> in Tirana (1944-1947); translator at the “Naim <\/span>Frashëri<\/span>” publishing house and scientific worker at the Institute of Sciences and the Institute of History and Linguistics (1948-1968). He published the pedagogical study books: “<\/span>Qeverimi<\/span> i<\/span> fëmijëve<\/span> në<\/span> shkollë<\/span>” (“The governance of children at school”) <\/span>(Korçë, 1928); “<\/span><\/span>Mësime shembullore<\/span><\/span>” <\/span>(“Exemplary lessons”)<\/span> (Korçë, 1930); “<\/span><\/span>Hartime dhe ushtrime në shkollat fillore e të mesme<\/span><\/span>” <\/span>(<\/span>“Compositions and exercises in primary and secondary schools”<\/span>) <\/span>(Korçë, 1936). He created the textbooks: “<\/span><\/span>Gramatika e greqishtes se vjetë<\/span>r<\/span><\/span>“<\/span> (“Grammar of ancient Greek”)<\/span> (I, 1938 – II, 1940) and “<\/span><\/span>Sintaksa e greqishtes së vjetër<\/span><\/span>” <\/span>(“Ancient Greek Syntax”) <\/span>(1942). He translated and adapted some educational and pedagogical works into the Albanian language, as well as <\/span>several<\/span> literary works by classical Greek authors, such as Aeschylus, Sophocles, Aristophanes, Aristotle, Plutarch, etc. <\/span><\/span>(In the photo: Sotir <\/span>Papahristo<\/span>)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
