In Friuli, <\/span>Prodolone<\/span> di San Vito Tagliamento, in the province of Pordenone (Italy), <\/span>Jak<\/span> Gardini, Catholic priest, was born. At the age of eighteen he entered the Society of Jesus (November 12, 1923). After years of philosophical preparation, he moved to Kieri to follow the three-year philosophy course. Starting from 1930, he spent several years as a teacher in Albania. He was ordained a priest on July 15, 1936, in Kieri. He spent the third year of probation (1937–1938) in Pare le Monial, France. Later, he was appointed a teacher at the College of St. Francis Saver and at the Papal Seminary in Shkodër. He was arrested in <\/span>1945, and<\/span> sentenced to 10 years in prison. After serving his sentence, he returned to Italy in 1955. With the overthrow of the communist regime, he returned to Shkodër to live and work.
