He was born in Nivan in Zagoria (Gjirokast\u00ebr), in 1915. At the high school of Gjirokastra and later at that of Tirana, he embraced communist ideas. Took part in anti-fascist demonstrations (1939\u20131940). Member of the Albanian Communist Party since its foundation. He was elected political secretary of the Communist Youth for the Durr\u00ebs district (February 1942). He propagated the ideas of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War among the workers of Durres, the farmers of Myzeqe and the villagers of Gjirokastra. With the formation of the &#8220;Koto Hoxhi&#8221; detachment, its commissar was appointed (1942) and later battalion commissar (1943).
