Margaret Hasluck, Scottish researcher of Albanian ethnoculture, passed away. She was born in Morayshire, Scotland, in 1885. She studied at the University of Aberdeen (1907), in the classical department, then studied in Cambridge, in the legal department. Margaret Hasluck came to Albania in 1926; during the years 1927-1939, she lived in Elbasan, from where she occasionally made study trips to parts of Central and Northern Albania. She was particularly concerned with Albanian land rights and folk art, with photographic documentation of various objects of Albanian ethnoculture, with the collection of ethnographic collections, some of which she published, but donated everything to museums in England, which were interested in the values of this type. Her main work, which made her famous in the field of Albanian ethnology, is “The Unwritten Law in Albania” <\/i>, Cambridge, 1954. The work is a collection and systematization of property law in a very special way, with topics, but not with codification, with 25 arranged problems. It was arranged and finally edited for publication by IE Alderson and JH Hutton. Margaret Hasluck has also written a series of articles in the magazine of the Royal Anthropological Society, among others about the Gypsies in Albania or some English-Albanian brochures for language learning.
