Demir Hyskja, an actor in theater and cinematography and a People’s Artist, was born in Elbasan. He completed his technical high school in 1955. In 1961, he attended a six-month course for actors at the People’s Theater. He later finished his higher education by correspondence for acting at the Academy of Arts. He continuously worked at the “Skampa” Theater in Elbasan from its establishment in 1962 until his retirement in 1992, being one of the most prominent figures of this theater. He played over 60 different roles in dramas and comedies, mainly leading roles. Demir Hyskja also acted in 27 Albanian films, in various roles. His performance is characterized by warm, broad, contained tones, with epic-dramatic accents; he is noted for his confidence and clarity in evaluation during performances, for his full, rounded, flowing voice, for the value he gives to words and their meaning on stage, and for his calmness or mastery of emotional states, presenting to the audience Albanian types and characters, patriots and war heroes, wise and resilient men, mainly in heroic-dramatic contexts. He passed away in 2016.<\/p>\n
