The ‘Skenderaj Massacre’ was carried out, a massacre by Serbian police and military forces against the Albanian civilian population in the town of Skenderaj. During 1999, two major massacres took place in Skenderaj. The first massacre occurred on March 20, 1999, where 29 civilians aged 15 to 70 were killed. The second massacre took place on April 16, 1999, when 16 people from Skenderaj and surrounding villages were killed by Serbian forces.
