Gjergj Prevazi, choreographer, teacher, was born in Durr\u00ebs. He completed his higher studies at the Academy of Arts in Tirana, in the choreography department, in 1987. He worked as a choreographer at the “A. Moisiu” Theater in Durr\u00ebs, and as a coordinator at the “Pjeter Arbnori” International Culture Center in Tirana. Since 1997, he has been a choreography lecturer at the Academy of Arts, serving as head of the stage movement department from 1997 to 2000. Prevazi has choreographed for the Opera and Ballet Theater in Tirana and Pristina, and participated in over 25 festivals, winning the first prize “Delphino d’argento” at the international Music World festival in Fivizzano, Italy. Leaning towards modern style and contemporary choreographic forms, Gjergj Prevazi has contributed a much-needed dimension to Albanian art. His works provide the Albanian dramatic theater with new opportunities for self-expression, new codes, and expressiveness, incorporating modern and postmodern choreographic elements and experiences that have not been previously explored, yet are in line with recent European trends.
