Ilia Dede, a poet, journalist, and screenwriter, was born in Delvina. He began his career in the chronic and documentary film sector in 1974, shortly after completing his higher studies in journalism at the Faculty of Political and Legal Sciences. Over his career from 1975 to 2000, he wrote approximately 35 film scripts and documentaries. His work is noted for blending realistic treatment and rational thought with a distinctive poetic spirit and warmth. During the years 1992-2000, Dede also directed several acclaimed films that reflected an optimistic growth in dramaturgy. In the last decade of his life, he focused extensively on journalism, contributing numerous articles to “Demokracia” (“Democracy”) and “Egnatia.” After 2000, he collaborated with the magazine “For Human Rights,” sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
