In an ambush between the villages of Kllodërnica and Kastriot in the municipality of Skënderaj (Kosovo), Abedin Rexha, a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army, a martyr, was killed. He was born in the village of Vojnik in the municipality of Skënderaj, in 1969. He attended high school in Skënderaj and continued his studies at the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy in Mitrovica. He was among the members of the first groups of the liberation war in Kosovo, known by the nickname “Sandokani“. From an early age, he started illegal activities. In the years 1993-1996 he emigrated to Germany. In 1996 he returned to Kosovo and then, during 1997, he undertook a series of actions against the Serbian police forces. Several times he crossed the border illegally, to bring weapons from Albania. On May 6, 1997, entering from the territory of Albania to Kosovo, his group was ambushed by Serbian forces, near Kushnin of Has, where Luan Haradinaj was killed. He continuously developed intensive activity for the consolidation of the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army. On November 25, 1997, Serbian police forces with two armored vehicles entered the village of Vojnik, in an attempt to infiltrate the “Binaku” neighborhood, but were withdrawn due to strong resistance, which was organized by Abedin Rexha. In August 1998, the General Staff of the Kosovo Liberation Army appointed him commander of Brigade 112 “Arben Haliti” in the Operational Area of Drenica. He was a coordinator and participant in a number of battles in this area. (In the photo: Abedin Rexha)
