Aleksandër Filipi was born in Berat, part of the group of modern contemporary Albanian painters. He attended the Artistic High School “Jordan Misja” and the High Institute of Arts, in Tirana. The artist Filipi, inclined to create compositional paintings, has created themes from historical events, legends and motifs from everyday life, starting in the 80s of the XX century. Aleksandër Filipi is a co-author with the group of four other Albanian artists in the realization of the mosaic entitled “Shqipëria” (“Albania”), for the facade of the National Historical Museum, Tirana (1981). He stands out as an artist who is always figurative and uses communication tools, often symbolic. Aleksandër Filipi continues to be an important contemporary painter of the compositional picture in Albania, where the human figure occupies the main place.
