In the Dukagjini Highlands, Çelo Sinani, a pioneer participant in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, Hero of the People, was killed by enemy forces. He was born in Picar of Kurveleshi (Gjirokastër), in 1929. At the age of 13, he enlisted in the partisan ranks, first with the Kurveleshi detachment, in the “Asim Zeneli” battalion (1943) and later in the VI Assault Brigade (1944). Took part in actions and battles. He was killed in 1944. (In the photo: Çelo Sinani)
