Çun Lajçi, an actor, was born in Rugova, Peja. He completed his acting studies at the Drama Studio at the National Theater of Kosovo, where he began working as an actor in 1970. He performed a series of roles, many of them leading roles. He began his career with the role of Selimi in the drama “Halili e Hajrija” (“Halili and Hajrija”), continuing with other roles such as: Caligula in “Kaligula” (“Caligula”), Adem in “Të ngujuarit” (“The Prisoners”), Jack in “Njerëzit me shpresa të thyera” (“People with Broken Hopes”), Diego in “The State of Siege”, Karandyshev in “The poor bride”, Suni in “The Good Person of Szechwan”, Captain Lukas in “The Good Soldier Svejk”, the unknown commissioner in “Confiteor”, Rabini in “Verbimi i Samsonit” (“The blinding of Samson”), Deli Uka in “Teatri i vogël i Deli Ukës” (“Deli Uka’s Small Theater”), Tali in “Shpend Sokoli i Sokol Shpendit” (“Shpend Sokoli of Sokol Shpendi”), the General in “Ku është populli” (“Where is the People”), Ceni in the drama “Përplasjet” (“Collisions”), Armati in “Komploti Ilir” (“The Illyrian Conspiracy”), Dr. Faust in “Doctor Faust Kobzi”, etc. But his most accomplished roles include Hamlet in “Hamleti në bodrum” (“Hamlet in the Basement”) directed by S. Aleksiq, a role for which he was declared the best actor at the “Joakim Vujiq” Theater Festival in Zrenjanin, Vojvodina (1972). For the role of Maestros in the play “Hana prej letre”(“Moon made of paper”) by Mehmet Kraja, directed by Fadil Hysaj, he was declared the best actor at the international “Kosova In-Fest” Festival in Pristina (2007). In addition to theater, he played a number of roles in feature films, as well as roles in television dramas. Çun Lajçi also developed part of his activity as an independent artist in his monodramas “I kujt është ky plis” (“Whose hat is this”) and “Oso Kuka”, where he portrayed national figures such as Adem Jashari, Oso Kuka, etc., through recitations and epic singing. He is a laureate of several awards and recognitions, including the “Naim Frashëri” order, awarded by the President of the Republic of Albania. (In the photo: Chun Lajçi)
