Dom Nikolle Kimza, a Catholic clergyman, historian, and publicist, was born in Gjakova. At the age of 14, he began his studies at the Pontifical College of Shkodra in 1892. He celebrated his first Mass on August 21, 1905, in Kallmet, Lezha. For 27 years, he served as a priest in the churches of Bulgri and Vela, and then for about 15 years as a parish priest in Kalivare, in the Abbey of Mirdita. In 1947, he was arrested along with 12 other priests. After his release, he returned to his parish in Kalivare. As an old and ill man, he was forced to flee, first to Yugoslavia and then to Rome, where he died in 1960. Some of Dom Nikolle Kimza’s writings, published mainly in “Hylli i Dritës” (“Star of the Light“) under the pseudonym “Munella,” include: “Ç’na thotë gojëdhëna mbi vjetërsinë e Mirditës” (“What the Legend Tells Us About the Age of Mirdita”) (1933), “Hetime mbi vjetërsinë e rrjedhën e derës Gjomarkaj të Mirditës” (“Investigations on the Age and History of the Gjomarkan Door of Mirdita”) (1937), “Tirana” (1937), and “Nji kumbonë e vjetër në ma t’vjetrën famulli” (“An Old Chime in the Oldest Parish”) (1939), among others.
