Drita Pelinku, actress, director, lecturer, Merited Artist, passed away. She was born in Vlora, in 1926. She was the only girl who was admitted to the first drama school (December 1944). As an actress of the National Theater, she has performed over 110 roles, half of which are main roles, such as Luisa Miller in “Intrigue and Love” (F. Shiler), Gonerila in “King Lear” (Shakespeare), Diana in “The Gardener’s Dog” (Lope de Vega), Zojcika in “A lost letter” (IL Caragiale), Mag in “The Beauty Queen of Leenane” (Mack Donagh), etc., and 15 roles in the cinematography: the Aunt in “Njeriu me top” (“Man with canonball”), Budja in “Kur hidheshin themelet” (“When the foundations were laid”) etc. From 1976, acting teacher at the Tirana Academy of Arts. As a director, she staged the dramas “Sisters” (P. Ziba), “Shadows” (H. Ibsen), “Much Ado About Nothing” (Shakespeare), “Swan Song” (A. Chekhov), “The Servant of Two Masters” (K. Goldoni). She won the First National Award “Ismail Qemali” (1996). She was decorated with the “Grand Master of Work” order. (In the photo: Drita Pelinku)
