Fatos Sela, an actor and “Distinguished Artist,” passed away. He was born in Tirana in 1948. He completed his higher education in 1972 at the Institute of Fine Arts, specializing in drama. From 1972 to 1975, he worked as a director at Albanian Television. In 1975, he transferred to the “Bylis” theater in Fier, where he worked as an actor until 1995. His time at the Fier Theater was a period of his formation and affirmation. As one of the leading actors of this theater, he portrayed almost all the main roles of the plays staged, both from Albanian and foreign playwrights. He was honored with numerous awards at theater festivals. In the role of Avni Rustemi in “Dy krisma në Paris” (“Two gun cracks in Paris”) by Pëllumb Kulla, he was awarded the Republic Prize, culminating at the end of the drama with a monologue of the defending word, turning it into a passionate plea against betrayal and traitors. Since 1995, he has been an actor at the National Theater. Fatos Sela is distinguished for his resonant voice, baritone in bass, as well as for his rounded speech, for his physical gifts with a penchant for heroic roles, leaders, or individuals with expressed personalities. He is known for his warm feeling, full eyes, and deep experience. These are often accompanied by loud bursts, but not at all tumultuous and uncontrolled, rather clear, and purposeful.
