Feim Ibrahimi, composer, People’s Artist, was born in Gjirokastër. He was born in Gjirokastër in 1935. He graduated from the State Conservatory of Tirana (1966). Lecturer at the Higher Institute of Arts (1966–1977) and deputy director (1973–1977), secretary for music at the League of Writers and Artists (1977–1991), director of the Opera and Ballet Theater (1991–1993) , lecturer at the Tirana Conservatory. He composed in almost all musical forms and genres, from vocal lyrics, chamber music to stage music. Some of his creations in the 70s of the XX century, such as Concerts no. 1 and 2 for piano and orchestra, were characterized by clear tendencies to enrich the musical language with new contemporary tools, which were further expressed in the works created in the 90s of the XX century. Feim Ibrahimi founded the National Music Committee in 1990, which he led for four years. A good part of his works have been played abroad. He has won several important national awards and the Republic Award of the Third and Second Degree. He passed away in Turin (Italy) in 1997. (In the photo: Feim Ibrahimi)
