Ferdinand Radi, actor and playwright, passed away. He was born in Durrës, in 1942. He became active early in the amateur theater movement in Tirana, as an actor, director and playwright. After a one-year course as a director, in 1972 he started working as a professional actor in the “Youth Theatre” near the Higher Institute of Arts. He played several roles there, but he especially liked the role of the factory worker (Tak-Fak) in the drama “Një shok i klasës sonë” (“A friend of our class”) by Kujtim Spahivogli. In 1991, he was accepted as an actor at the National Theatre. He has performed mainly secondary and episodic roles, aiming to create comic characters, rude, mischievous, strange or addicted people. He was also quite active in cinematography, with 13 roles. Ferdinand Radi was an actor with physical data for the types of comedy: stout, coarse speech and slang, expressive mimicry. His interpretation stood out for its authenticity, even in cases of exaggerated actions or caricatures of characters. He was a researcher of funny events from the life of artists, in the form of anecdotes, with which he compiled a special book (2003). He also wrote several dramas and comedies, among them the most successful was the comedy “Tetë persona plus” (“Eight people plus”) (1996), which had a long life on the stage of the National Theatre. He was praised as a director for staging Nikolai Gogol’s comedy “The Inspector General” at the National Theater in 1999. (In the photo: Ferdinand Radi)
