Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born in the United States of America, an American poet with a very wide literary activity. He wrote poems, novels, plays, and translated the classic literature of the European peoples. Under the instigation of Dora d’Istria, he composed the romantic poem “Skenderbeu” (“Skanderbeg”), on the subject of the hero’s return to Kruja after the battle of Nish. The poet presented the leader as a legendary hero. The work is masterfully translated in Albanian by Fan S. Noli (1916). He passed away in the United States of America in 1882.
