Hysni Babameto, math teacher, Albanian educator, one of the first pioneers of Albanian education of the 20th century, was born in Gjirokastër. Due to health reasons, he was forced to abandon his studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Istanbul and dedicated himself to the teacher’s mission in his homeland. He began his duties in 1910 and devoted more than half a century to this career, starting in Gjirokastër, then continuing in Shkodër, Korçë and finally in Tirana in 1929. He excelled as a Methodist in teaching mathematics, as an educator of generations, passed through the borders of many political systems of Albania in the 20th century. Hysni Babameto was noted for his patriotism and Albanianism. He was also the author of a number of mathematics textbooks. He worked at the high school in Tirana and at the Polytechnic of Tirana.
