Kristo Frashëri, historian, professor, academic, was born in Istanbul . After graduating from high school in 1940, he enrolled in the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Florence. During 1942, he was exiled by the fascist occupation administration and in 1943 he joined the partisan ranks. He attended higher studies at the Faculty of History and Philology, at the Higher Pedagogical Institute, in the years 1951-1955. During the years 1953-1999 he worked in several important institutions, where he served as a scientific employee in the Institute of Sciences, in the Institute of History and Linguistics, in the Faculty of History and Philology of the University of Tirana and in 1997, he was appointed vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of Albania, where he remained until 1999. Kristo Frashëri has a rich scientific output, which extends to all periods of Albania’s history, from Antiquity to the present day. He has published dozens of study articles, historical reports, documentary volumes and scientific monographs, which without exception deal with events, personalities and processes of the history of Albania.
