In Beltoja was born Dom Mikel Beltoja, martyr of the Catholic Church. He was born in Beltojë. At the height of the communist regime, since the Albanian Pontifical Seminary was closed, he was prepared to become a priest privately by Archbishop Ernest Çobës, who ordained him a priest on December 8, 1961, together with Dom Marin Shkurti. He was the vicar of Dajçi on the Buna coast and then Barbullushi (Shkodër). He was arrested in Beltoja (Shkodër) and imprisoned in Shkodër on April 19, 1973. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison on August 15, 1973 and to death on September 4, 1973. He was shot in 1974. (In the photo : Mikel Beltoja)
