Nikollë Deda, a martyr of the Catholic Church, was born in Shkodra. He graduated in philosophy and theology in Rome. He served as a priest in Shkodra, Koman, Hajmel, etc. He was arrested in 1946 and cruelly tortured for two years by the State Security, leading to his death by electroshock. By a decision of the Military Court of Shkodra dated January 8, 1948, he was sentenced to death on charges of “political crimes”, along with 16 other clerics. He was executed in 1948.
