Ramiz Jakup Kelmendi

Ramiz Jakup Kelmendi was born in Peja, a renowned Albanian writer, translator, prose writer, and journalist. He attended agricultural high school in Pristina and pursued higher education in Albanian language and literature at the University of Belgrade (1955). He completed postgraduate studies and earned his doctorate at the University of Pristina (1975). He worked as a teacher in Gjakova, later as an editor at the newspaper “Rilindja” (“Renaissance”) (1956–1968), director of the Regional People’s Theater (1968–1970), lecturer at the Higher Pedagogical School of Pristina (1970–1989), founder and director of the non-public journalism school “Faik Konica” (1996–2004). He has written short stories, novels, dramas, feuilletons, essays, and journalism, but his main contribution lies in the genre of satirical storytelling. Ramiz Kelmendi’s journalism is distinguished by its polemical spirit and sharp criticism. He passed away in Pristina in 2017. (In the photo: Ramiz Kelmendi)
