In Shkodra, the artistic society “Bogdani” was founded, one of the largest and most important artistic societies of the Independence period. It carried out its activities continuously for 20 years. Although it had branches in theater, literature, music, and sports, it distinguished itself particularly for its numerous activities in the field of theater, the quality level of its performances, and the rich traditions it established in the performing arts. Through its activities, many talented actors and some playwrights were affirmed. It provided invaluable assistance, especially in interpreting pieces by local authors, but also staged many works by well-known international authors. Zef M. Harapi played an important role in that society as its chairman for many years, a productive playwright, and director. The music branch mainly developed its activities through the symphony orchestra. The society continued its artistic activities until 1939 when the fascist authorities disbanded all societies. (In the photo: The musical branch of the artistic society “Bogdani”, Shkodër.)
