The “Massacre of Studime” took place, a massacre carried out by the military and police forces of Serbia against the Albanian civilian population in Studime, Vushtrri, in which 99 Albanian civilians were killed. It was done as a sign of revenge for the losses suffered by the Serbian army and police from the Kosovo Liberation Army and NATO bombings. Most of the civilians were executed at close range, each with a bullet to the head. Local Serbian police from Vushtrri and other surrounding areas took part in the execution of civilians. In order to commemorate this massacre, in the cemetery where the killed Albanians were buried in Studime, a memorial was erected with the names of the killed, where the names of the 116 fallen have been engraved.
