Gjon Nikollë Kazazi was born in Gjakovë, Albanian language scholar, senior catholic clergyman. Studied in the Illyric colleges (educational institutions of the Catholic Church) of Fermo and Loreto (Italy), where he received a doctorate in theology and philosophy. In 1743, he was appointed archbishop of Skopje and remained in this position until the end of his life. In 1740, he discovered Gjon Buzuku’s “Meshari” (“The Missal”) in the library of the College of Religious Propaganda (the College for the Evangelization of Peoples in Rome).
