A large strike in defense of more than 600 workers was organized by the “Puna” society. Their working conditions were difficult and the the pay was low. They went on strike for reduced working hours, higher wages and better living conditions. The AIPA company (Azienda Italiana Petroli Albania – Italian Albanian Oil Company, 1925–1945) was forced to meet the demands of the strikers.
