The first issue of the political and social newspaper “Populli” was published in Shkodër. It was led by the patriot Sali Nivica. The newspaper was published in over 77 editions, until January 1920. With the motto “For the complete independence of Albania”, the newspaper “Populli” (“The People”) presented the problems of freedom, independence, and territorial integrity of Albania, simultaneously transforming into an organ of Committee “National Defense of Kosova” and spokeswoman of the all-Albanian patriotic movement in the years 1919-1920.
