The patriot, patriot and activist of the National Renaissance, Nikolla Naço, was born in the city of Korça (1843 – 1913). As a young man he emigrated abroad, first to Egypt and then to Romania. When the “Drita” Albanian Normal School was founded in Bucharest by the “Drita” society of Bucharest, in 1892, its director was appointed Nikola Naço. At the same time, he was also the chairman of it. In this society, Nikolla worked without interruption for the benefit of the national cause, helping to spread national ideas to his compatriots in exile, as well as to those in the homeland, for the opening of Albanian schools and for every need they had. Also, Nikolla Naço directed the newspaper “Shqiptari” (“The Albanian”), which was published in Bucharest in the period between 1888 – 1903. Nikolla Naço kept in touch with many Albanian patriots inside and outside the homeland, as well as with romanian and European personalities of the time. He is the author of several memoranda sent to the Sublime Porte and the Great Powers. Naço passed away in 1913, in Bucharest. (In the photo: Nikolla Naço)
