In Tirana, on the pretext of throwing a bomb at the Soviet Embassy, Pjerin (Pjetër) Guraziu was shot without trial, along with 21 other intellectuals. He was born in 1906, in Shkodër. From 1912 to 1929 he lived in Italy with his family. He graduated in economics (Italy). Worked for a car company in Milan. He worked as a teacher at the Commercial School (Vlora) and at the Ministry of Finance. Opponent of the communist regime, considered by them as “an influential element within the enemy element and daring”. He was a participant in the NL War, morally and materially. Especially from the mid-1950s, he propaganded in favor of the Anglo-Americans, presenting the great strength of the imperialist camp and discrediting the democratic camp. He was arrested on February 11, 1951, under the pretext of the bomb in the Soviet Embassy. He did not accept the charges of terrorism. After the fall of communism, he was decorated with the titles “Honour of the Nation” and “Martyr of Democracy”. (In the photo: Pjerin Guraziu)
