Preng Doçi, poet and cleric, passed away. He was born in Bulgër, Mirditë. He completed his theological studies in Shkodra and Rome. After his studies, due to the persecutions from the Sublime Porte, he was charged by the Holy See with apostolic missions abroad, such as in the USA, Rome and India. Upon returning to his homeland, he took high positions in the church hierarchy, as abbot of Misrida (1880). He took part early in the political and cultural life of the time and was one of the founders of the society “Bashkimi” (1899) in Shkodër. At the beginning of the renaissance, he wrote poems with a patriotic content, in which he called for armed struggle against the Ottoman invaders. (In the photo: Preng Doçi)
