Filip Papajani (1878–1945), writer and publicist, passed away. He received his first lessons in Elbasan and completed his medical studies in Romania. He took part in the democratic patriotic movement of 1921-1924. He published the political-literary newspaper “Shkumbini” (1921). He wrote in several genres: the poems “Osman-Marija” (1913) and “Ndreka” (1925), the poetic collection “Elbasani” (1938), the long stories “Pelazgë, qytetnim, vllazni!” (“Pelasgians, civilization, brotherhood”) (1923), “Fatbardhi” (1934), the play “Moisi Golemi” (1928), etc. The works of Filip Papajani possess the characteristic themes for the literature of the National Renaissance; in some works he he depicted the difficult life of childhood.
