In the fighting for the capture of the fortress of Margëlliç (Patos), Meleq Gosnishti (1913-1944), participant of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, Hero of the People, was killed. He was born in the village of Gosnisht in Përmet. He emigrated to France (1929), where he worked as a miner and in other difficult jobs. Member of the French Communist Party (1938). Deported by the French police, he returned to his homeland in 1938. In 1941, he joined the war against the fascist occupier. He was appointed commander of the guerrilla unit of the province of Cerje (Përmet, 1942), joined the partisan detachment “Musa Fratari” and then became company commissar and later deputy commander in the partisan battalion “Naim Frashëri” (1943). He became a member of the Communist Party of Albania in September 1943. He stood out for his leadership skills, especially in the fierce fighting that took place in the VI Assault Brigade during the General Enemy Training of the Winter 1943-1944.
