Pandeli Cale (1874–1923), an activist of the National Renaissance and the period of Independence, was born in Korça. He got his first lessons in Korça. He completed his higher studies in Cairo. He collaborated with the patriots of Bucharest. In Korça, he stood out during the years 1908-1910 for the organization of clubs and patriotic societies. He was one of the propagandists and organizers of the armed war in South Albania (1911–1912). Represented the insurgents of Korça in the Assembly of Sinja (1912). He participated in the meeting in Bucharest (November, 1912), as well as in the National Assembly of Vlora (1912) as a representative of Korça. He was elected a member of the government headed by Ismail Qemali (Minister of Agriculture). In the years of World War I, he emigrated to Romania and Switzerland, where he fought for the preservation of Albania’s independence and territorial integrity. Pandeli Cale participated in the movement that led to the holding of the Congress of Lushnja (1920) and in the movement for protection from the danger of Greek invasion and for the union of the territory of Korça with the government that emerged from the Congress of Lushnja.
